U14’s loose out to Ballycallan

The u14’s took part in the Decaln Byrne tournament in Ballycallan on Saturday.  Their first game was against Paulstown which they lost.  They then played Ballyragget which they won to put them in the Shield final against hosts Graig ballcallan.  They put up a good battle but unfortunally where beatenby a stronger Ballycallan team.

U10’s have another good win


 

St Martins U10s completed their Go Games campaign with a great win over Tullaroan last Saturday morning. Another fine morning ensured that all the lads had every opportunity to ” lift and strike ” as they have been practicing in Ballyfoyle and Muckalee every Saturday morning at training. They have got great enjoyment out of all their games against Johnstown, Cloneen and Tullroan. Croke Park here we come !

 

St Martins U10s are travelling to Croke Park next Sunday to cheer on John Mulhall in the senior match. They will be playing a match of their own in Crumlin at 11am on the way up. The bus departs Muckalee pitch at 9.15am and Coon at 9.30am. As the players will be representing the club in Dublin, parents are reminded that all players are required to have white shorts and red socks. Look out for the lads next Sunday….we will be the ones wearing the St Martins jerseys in the Davin Stand Lower !

U14 loose out to Dunnamaggin

The U14 lost out to Dunnamaggin in the shield semi-final in danesfort on saturday evening.  Martins struggled in the first half and were behind at the break 2-06 to 0-02.   Dunnamaggin opened the second half with a quick goal to leave it out of reach for Martins. They still battled hard and were rewarded with a late goal. Final score ST. Martins 1-04 Dunnamaggin 3-09.

U 10s start with a Win


St Martins U10s started their 2010 Go Games campaign with two great wins over the Fenians, Johnstown last Thursday evening in Muckalee. All 24 members of the panel got extensive game time and it is great to see everyone improving their skills as we go through the summer. Our remaining games will be against Cloneen and Tullaroan. U14 reach Shield semi-final

The u 14 played Emeralds in the quarter final on friday evening.  From the start Martins were on top and never looked in any danger of loosing.  Leading at half time by 2-05 to 0-03.  In the second half they used all their subs and ended with a final score of 4-12 to 0-04.  Emeralds are a very young team with some nice hurlers.

Another win for U14

The U14 travelled to Johnstown on Monday and came away with the points.  Martins started slowly and Johnstown opened the scoring with 2 points but thenMartins setteled  and got some fine scores to leave it St. Martins 2-04 Johnstown 0-03 at half time.  Playing with a slight breeze in the second half Martins continued to dominate. Final score St. Martins 2-09 Johnstown 0-05.

Mixed fortune for U14

The U14 played two games this week. On Monday they played Cloneen and had a good win. They proved that bit strong for Cloneen and led throughout the game.  Then on Thursday they had conahy at home.  This game was more even and even though they started slowly and were down at half time 0-02 to 1-07 the second half was different, they up their game and and scored 2-04 but it just wasn’t enough.  Final score St. Martins 2-06 Conahy 1-15.

U16 narrowly beaten


The u 16 played Conahy in the first round of the League.  This was a good battle throughout.  Martins opened the scoring with a pointed free.  Conahy replied and got 2 quick goals but Martins kept attacking and eventually it paid off with a goal.  Martins finished the half with 3 unanswered points.  Half time score Martins 1-07 Conahy 3-06.  Following the start of the second half Martins got a quick goal to leave 2 between the sides.  Conahy replied quickly with a goal of their own. Martins dug deep and reduced the margin to a single point but Conahy out scored them in the closing minutes to win.  Final score St. Martins 3-11 Conahy 5-12.

The Minors played Camross on Monday in Muckalee.  Martins started well with 4 unanswered points before Camross pointed a free.  This was followed with a free for Martins by Luke Maher.  Just before half time Martins had 2 goals and a point by Ruairi Kinsella to lead at half time 3-06 to 0-05.                Early in the second half Ruairi Kinsella struck again with another goal.  Camross replied with 2 points and got a late goal to leave the final score St. Martins 3-09 Camross 1-09.

The Minors played Johnstown away on Friday evening and won. They were that bit stronger and held the lead throughout the game .  Final score St. Martins 6-09  Johnstown 0-06.  Next game against Camross.
