Danesfort were the visitors to Muckalee to decide which side would retain their Senior Football status for the coming year. After a well contested game it was the visitors who won and send Muckalee to the intermediate grade for the first tie since they defeated Slieverue in the Junior Final in 1973. Their was no Intermediate Football back then. Final score 1-7 to 0-8

Senior exit

Muckalee travelled to Thomastown in the quarter final of the senior football Championship against Thomastown, it was the home side that were leading at half time 1-4 to 0-5 the goal coming from a penalty. The Muckalee points came from Sean Hunt who was making his debut at this level as were Jamie Morrissey, Harry Kealy, James Callinan , Cathal Keegan and Cormac Quirke. Both sides scored goals in the second half, Colm Kealy got the one for Muckalee which set up a tight finish despite being a man down at the time. Final score 2-7 to 1-7.

Juniors bow out

Saint Patricks Ballyragget were the visitors to Muckalee for the Junior Football Championship against Muckalee. In a year that the Muckalee lads gave some good performances in the league it was St Patricks that had a convincing win their ability to score goals made a big differance leading 3-6 to 0-1 at the break. Muckalee improved in the second half to leave the final score 4-7 to 0-7.

Played under lights it was the home side that at were leading the break 2-3 to 0-4 Tom Morrissey scored the goals . In the second half Clara were playing the better football and they took the points in a tight finish. Final score 2-8 to 1-12.

Second Game

Muckalee played Railyard in their second game of the Senior League in Muckalee under lights. In a well attended game it was Railyard who the two points on offer leading at the break 1-6 to 0-3. Cormac Quirke and Robert Shore scored for Muckalee. In the second half Railyard went on to score six more points and Robert Shore, Tadhg Gill and Robert Dowling score the home side. Champions visit

Mullinavat reigning senior football champions were the visitors to Muckalee for their first game in the Senior Football League. It was the home side that had the better start with 3 points early on, but Mullinavat came right into the game to lead 2-.4 to 1-.4 at the break their second goal scored in the thirtieth minute. Tom Morrissey scored Muckalees goal. Wind assisted Mullinivat out scored the home side but it was a competiitive game all through. The second goal was scored by James Callinan after a good build up. The contribution of last years minors Cormac Quirke and Sean Hunt in their first game at Senior level was notable. Final news to 2-8

Junior Football

In the first outing of the new year Muckalee took on Galmoy in Junior Football League under lights. It was the home side who took an early lead when Robert Shore goaled, Galmoy were to add two goals and four points to lead at half time 2-4 to 1-3. the points for Muckalee were scored by Mick Morrissey and Robert Shore. The second half was as well contested as the first and the performance of the newcomers on the home side was encouraging . A penalty was awarded to Muckalee but it was well saved by the Galmoy goalkeeper who ran out winners 3-8 to 1-6.
