Muckalee bow out

Muckalee bowed out of the Senior Football Championship at the semi final stage against Mullinavat in Danesfort . The early exchanges saw both sides leading at different stages with points from Bryan Byrne, Tom Morrissey, David Walsh and Brian Coady . A well worked gaol from David Walsh (on as a sub for the injured Paddy Nolan) in  the 24th  minute had Muckalee in a strong position with a five point lead. Mullinavat cut into that lead with a converted penalty to leave the half time score 1-9 to 1-7. Robert Shore and Bryan Byrne added points early as Muckalee battled hard to keep the pressure on an improving Mullinavat side who had a three point lead with time running out and added another goal and two points in added time to record a convincing win. Over all a good game with both sides contributing greatly. Final score 2-16 to 1-11

Team Stephen Murphy, James Maher, Shane Kinsella, Noel Darcy Paddy Nolan, Brian Cody 0-1,Canice Maher, Mick Morrissey, Tom Breen, Tom Morrissey 0-1,Darragh Quinlan, Sean Maher, Bryan Byrne 0-7 4f, Robert Shore 0-1.

Subs David Walsh 1-1, Jason Shore (used), Matthew Cullen (used), Eugene Mahet,  Ciaran FitzPatrick, Conor Mulhall, Aidan Egan, John Maher (inj) John Mulhall (away)

St Martins Inter County Bounty 2019 Winners

A dramatic final weekend of provincial action saw Wexford and Limerick take the spoils to bring us all the way back to the summer of ’96. Davy completing the full set of titles for his own personal collection and Limerick annexing all three major titles at the one time for the first time since 1936. Tom Murphy (€1000) and Helen Corcoran (€400) were joint top of the predictions with 180 points with Tom closer in his prediction for the top scorers winning out. Seamus Callanan and TJ Reid taking the top scorer from play awards after scintillating provincial campaigns. The Father and Son duo of Paddy and Tomás Morrissey could not be separated in the battle for third and share the All Ireland tickets of their choosing later in the year as both were within five of the correct score. Congratulations to the winners and sincere thanks to all those who took part and bought forecast cards for 2019.

St Martins Inter County Bounty 2019

Joe Dowling never fear the Inter County Bounty results are here!! After a dramatic conclusion to the Leinster championship with Kilkenny and Wexford emerging as Leinster finalists alongside Dublin who dramatically knocked out 2017 All Ireland champions Galway. Munster will see Tipperary and Limerick face off after emerging from Munster with Cork. TJ Reid and Seamus Callanan are atop the scoring lists from play and it will take a major scoring surge to knock them from the top spots. Its all to play for at the top of the leaderboard going into the Leinster and Munster finals which will be played next weekend.

St Martin’s Intermediate’s Successful Opening Win

St Martin’s kicked off their 2019 Intermediate league campaign with a good win over Young Irelands Gowran in sunny Palmerstown on Saturday afternoon.  Shane Kinsella put us in front with a free in the 2nd minute followed by a John Maher point from play.  Young Irelands then hit back to draw level and then move ahead.  The first half was a tense enough affair but Martin’s had a good spread of scorers with some good points taken by Jason, Mick, Tom, Luke and Colin.  Gowran were very reliant on the dangerous Paul Holden and Sean Carey.  Half time score was 0-12 to 0-09 to St Martin’s.  Young Ireland got the first score of the second half but Martin’s hit back with the next 4 points by Joe, Colin, John and Brian.  This proved to the difference and we managed to maintain our lead for the remainder of the game.  Score at full time was 0-21 to 0-16.  St Martin’s featured a number of young players making their debut at this level and all of them acquitted themselves very well.

Team: Colin McGrath, Harry Kealy, Ollie Walsh, Noel Darcy, Brian Byrne, Paddy Nolan, Justin Manning, Mick Morrissey, Shane Kinsella, Brian Coady, Jason Shore, Thomas Breen, John Mulhall, John Maher, Luke Maher.  Subs Used: Joe Maher, Dean Farrell

Management Team: Paul Brennan, Dermot Lawlor, John Dooley
