Aylward cup win


St Martins opened the defence of the Aylward Cup with a home game in Coon.The opening half was well contested with two goals by Martins the big scores of the first half, 2-5 to 0-6. The Rower/Inistioge could not keep up the same effort in the second half and Martins pulled away to record a good win.

U10 enjoy day in Nowlan park

St Martins Under 10s played their final go game in Nowlan park on Saturday.  A great day was had by all and the players all enjoyed the expierence.

U14 Hurlers up their game for James Stephens


Sunday 5th June saw St. Martin’s U14s take on The Village in Coon in a league thriller. This promised to be a tough encounter and it live up to expectations. St. Martin’s got off to a great start with an early goal and slowly extended their lead with quality points. The game was fought in every position will all playing to their best. At half time St. Martin’s were a goal ahead.

The second half saw some tough challenges but St. Martin’s held their ground and saw off challenge after challenge to finish up strong winners with a final score of 4-6 to 1 -5. Well done again.

JuniorAs in final


St. Martins JuniorAs put in a good performance to qualify for the Junior A League Final. Played in Castlecomer Martins started really well and built up a good score to lead at the break 0-10 to 0-3.Dermot Lalor who started well had to leave the game injured after only ten minutes but the rest of the forwards upped their game in his absence.Gowran had the use of the strong wind for the second half  they could make little headway against the Martins defence.   James Callanan one of our minors made his adult debut in this game coming on as a subsitute , well done. Final score 0-17 to 0-5.

Martins draw


Saint Martins and Dunnamaggin played out a draw in Dicksboros ground in Palmerstown.Martins had the better of the first half and led at the break 0-10 to 0-4. A goal early in the new half put ten points between the teams but Dunnamaggin never stopped trying and fought right to the end . Just when it seemed that Martins had done enough to win a goal in the dying moments from a twenty metre free deprived them of both points.

U14 Hurlers meet O’Loughlin’s B in the League


Thursday night 26th May in Muckalee saw St. Martin’s U14 hurlers take on O’Loughlin’s B team in the League. A great panel of 24 togged out to play for the home side.

St. Martin’s commanded the game from the throw in and found their scores with ease while O’Loughlin’s struggled to get anything past our magnificent backs for most of the first half. After half time St. Martin’s made many changes to the line up so as to give the younger players more experience and they each played their part. Well done to all.

Final score 3-11 to 1-4.

St. Martin’s U14 Footballers are County Champions.


On a beautiful sunny evening in Thomastown on Friday 20th May St. Martins U14 Footballers took on Gowran in the County Final.

The game was  fought hard from the throw in with scores being hard to find for both sides  at the beginning but St. Martin’s gradually pulled away once they found their confidence between the posts.  St. Martin’s showed their strength and commitment in all quarters of  the field and were well in command at half time. After the break St. Martin’s never faltered picking their scores with great accuracy and finishing up worthy winners with a final score of 3-11 to 4 points.

Celebrations kicked into full swing with the winners reception being held in Mc Donalds for the hungry bunch.
