Lady Luck deserts Juniors

Neighbours St. Martin’s and O’ Loughlins squared up this evening in the North Junior Hurling Championship in a wet, dark Canon Kearns Park.  The game ebbed and flowed with both sides trading points.  When St. Martin’s gained the lead, it looked like things were going well.  However, O’ Loughlin’s were awarded a free and when it it looked as if it was going over the bar, it suddenly dropped into the left top corner of the net.  Both sides added a point to their name as well as each side having missed chances.  The half time score stood at St. Martin’s 0-8, O’ Loughlin’s 1-7.  St. Martin’s tried hard in the second half and could only get within 2 points before their city neighbours began pulling away and with a goal in the final minute for the winners, it finished St. Martin’s 0-14 to O’ Loughlin’s 2-16.
