Well  done to John Mulhall who won his his second Leinster Senior Hurling Championship yesterday in Croke Park.

U14’s in battle for Duggan Steel League Semi Final.


On Monday 4th July St. Martin’s U14s travelled to The Blacks and Whites ground to take on St. Fiacre’s in the U14 League game.

St. Martin’s started strong again showing great commitment and courage and getting the rewards on the score board. At half time St. Martin’s were carrying a comfortable lead. However in the second half scores didn’t come easy from either side with St. Martin’s only registering 1-1 but they defended well to keep the St. Fiacre’s side under controll.

Anyhow, St. Martin’s finished up easy winners on this occasion with a final score of 5-5 to 2-2.

St.Martins went down to neighbours Naomh Brid in the semi -final of the Paddy Cahill Cup.Played in Coon the visitors dominated the first half to lead 1-8 to 0-4 . An understrength Martins came more into the game after the break but could not match the Carlow men who advanced to the final . Score 1-14 to 1-10.

D J draws the crowds


The crowd was well up for this North Junior A hurling Champoinship ,  D J Carey was the draw for many of the neutrals. Played in Benettsbridge on a lovely evening for hurling  the sides were level at the break at five points each. The tempo increased with Young Irelands scoring a goal and point  to go four points clear a goal from Dermot Lalor levelled matters. The Gowran side pulled away again and looked set for victory but a penalty was dispatched to the net by Stephen Murphy to draw the game. Final score 2-7 to 1-10.

Congratulations to the U14 camogie team who qualified for the roinn A county final on Monday night. They travelled to tullaroan to take on  Dicksboro. Having already played in the earlier rounds both teams new this was going to be a close match. Conditions were perfect and St martins started the better and were ahead at half time 3-08 to 1-02.  They knew that Dicksboro would come back at them in the second half but they never gave up and the final score was St. Martins 10-10 Dicksboro 3-04.  They now wait the winners of Thomastown & Piltown in the Final.

The U16 played St Fiacres in Muckalee on Wednesday evening in the last round of the league.  Martins were in control throughout this game and were ahead at half time 2-08 to 1-02.  They continued to work hard in the second half and the final score was St. Martins 4-12 St. Fiacres 2-04.  They now have qualtified for the league semi-final.

Mullinivat made the long trip to Coon to to take on Saint Martins in the Aylward Cup tie.The game was slow to get going on a good evening for hurling,the half-time score was 1-8 to 1-4 in Martins favour.The game improved after the break and it was the home side who took the point,final score 1-17 to 3-6.

St. Martin’s V Dicksboro U14 Duggan Steel League


Tuesday night 21st June St. Martin’s U14 hurling team took on Dicksboro in Coon. St. Martin’s started strong again and went on from strength to strength showing good teamwork and hard work rate for the most part to lead easily at half time. The second half was more of the same and they finished with a flurry of goals to end up with a final score of 3-15 t0 3 points.
