U14 start year with a win

The u14 played O loughlins in the football league on Sunday in Muckalee. Having received a walk over from St. Patricks the previous week this was to be there first game of the year. St Martins opened the scoring with 3 unanswered points before O Loughlins got their first. Martins then got 3 quick goals but O Loughlins didn’t give up and battled back to leave the final score St. Martins 5 – 10 to O Loughlins 4 – 05. This was a good team performance. Their next match is against Railyard on Saturday.

The Kilkennys in Matt the Millers
St Martins Hurling /Muckalee Football Clubs will hold a fundraising night in Matt the Millers on Fri April 1st. Music by The Kilkennys. Admission €5. This event will go towards the running of our clubs and the development of both pitches.

St Martins had three Player involved in the St.Patricks Drumcondra/Mater Dei team this year they reached the League Final a first for the Colledge ( losing out to University ) and qualified for the Quarter Final of the Championship (losing out to Cork Institue of Technology).Alan Murphy (3)Canice Maher (10)Thomas Breen(15).
Community School loose out
St Martins had six players involved in the Leinster Colleges Senior Hurling A Final,after putting in a great effort Castlecomer Community lost out to holders and All Ireland Champions St. Kierans College,Kilkenny.The game was played in Nowlan Park,Final score 3-7 to0-7.David Breen,Ruari Kinsella , Luke Maher,Thomas Walsh,Eoin O Mahony,Shane Egan.
Autumn Fire in Coon Hall
Kilquan Players present “Autumn Fire” in Coon Hall on Friday night next 25th February at 8pm in aid of St. Martin’s Hurling Development Fund. Admission is € 10-00. A great night is promised.
St. Martins AGM
The AGM took place in Coon Hall on January 22nd. A good crowd attended the meeting. At the start of the meeting the Club Constitution was adopted for the coming year.
Secretary Lillian Holohan then read the minutes of the previous meeting. The chairman Richard O Shea then addressed the meeting. He thanked everyone for coming. He also thanked his fellow officers, sub committees and board no N OG for all their hard work during the year. He thanked those who helped organise the Dog Night, sell Piltown tickets, and collected membership and also the mentors of each team for their continued hard work. To the people who look after our fields and keep them in good conditions a big thank you. Also to Grace and Noel for looking after our teams.
He then said that on the hurling field we started the year with a good win over Club champions Ballyhale Shamrocks but we did not capitalise on this. He hoped that with more commitment and hard work this year we can go all the way. He thanked Nicky Cashin and the selectors for their hard work last year and wished them the best in the future. He welcomed new trainer Sean O Neill and his selectors Johnny Brennan, John Mc Grath, Brendan Morrissey and Nial Maloney on board for the coming year. He asked everyone to support them and the team. Before he finished he congratulated Muckalee Football team on them winning the county Final. The secretary then gave her report and thanked everyone who helped her during the year.
Treasure Eamon Breen gave a comprehensive report of the years expenses. He said that after the development work was completed in Coon and all expenses paid we were still clear of death. He said the members draw was our main fundraiser and encouraged everyone to help collect money.
County Board Chairman Paul Kinsella addressed the meeting and complemented the club on the meeting booklet and layout. He reminded us that everyone involved in the club needs to be garda vetted. He stated that the GAA would be having a national Garda Vetting Day at the end of the month.
The meeting was also addressed by Football Chairman Larry Maher, Bord Na N Og vice Chairman Tom Cullen and Fr Larry Wallace and Fr John Delaney who all wished the club well for the coming year. Sean O Neill thanked everyone for their good wishes and hoped that the year ahead would be a good one.

Minors loose out to Tullaroan
30/01/11
The Minors played Tullaroan in the shield semi-final on Sunday morning in Tullaroan. It was a bright morning for hurling but bitterly cold. Tullaroan started well with a quick goal. St Martins replied with a pointed free by Ruairi Kinsella. St Martins continued to work hard and at half time trailed by a goal St. Martins 0-05 Tullaroan 1-05. It was Tullaroan who started the second half the better with 2 unanswered points before they got a goal which was saved by David Breen but rebounded into the goal. Martins continued to work hard but were unable to close the gap. Final score St. Martins 0-09 Tullaroan 3-07.
