St. Martins win Junior B all-Ireland
St. Martins 1-14 St. Mary’s 2-09
St. Martins won the Junior B All-Ireland on Sunday in Limerick. Martins settled quickly and opened the scoring with a pointed free from Dermot Lawlor which was followed by a goal from Podge Haughney. St. Mary’s had chances but were unable to finish. It wasn’t until the 13 min before they registered their first score with appoint from Shane Hourigan. They then put pressure on the Martins defence which resulted in a goal. Martins replied quickly with 3 unanswered points from Brian Malone, Stephen Murphy and Dermot Lawlor. As half approached St, Mary’s added to points from frees by Shane Hourigan to leave it St. Martins 1-05 St. Mary’s 1-03 Half time. Following the start of the second half both sides exchanged points. Martins continued to dominate and were ahead by a goal with 9 mins left. Then St. Mary’s had a shot on goal which was blocked out by Mark Murphy but Sean Sheahan re-acted the quickest and put the ball to the back of the net. All square with 2 mins left. Martins got the ball back up the field and got a threw in on the 21 yard line which Tom Morrissey won and passed to Stephen Murphy who put it between to posts. Puck out was won by Martins which resulted in another point. Martins held on to win. Aidan Lawlor received man of the match.

U16 win first match
The u 16 took on Shamrocks in Ballyhale on Saturday. Shamrocks started the better and opened the scoring with a 1-02 before martins got a penalty which they put over the bar. Half time score St. Martins -03 Shamrocks 1-05. Martins started the second half with a penalty which they put away. They followed this with 3 more goals and looked to be comfortable winners but Shamrocks did not give up and got 3 goals before the final whistle. But Martins just edged out on a score of 4-07 to 4-05.

Junior B All-Ireland Final Replay
The Junior B will travel to Killeedy GAA grounds once again on Sunday to take on St. Marys Rathkeale in the Junior B All-Ireland Final Replay. The game last Sunday ended in a draw 14 points apiece. Best of luck to all involved. Many thanks to everyone who travelled to support the team on Sunday and we hope to see you there again next week.

U14 go down to Railyard

The u14 played Railyard on Saturday evening . Railyard started well and opened the scoring with a goal and a point before Martins settled. Martins replied with 2 points. Before half-time Railyard got 2 more points to leave the half-time score St. Martins 0-02 Railyard 1-03. Martins started the second half the strongest with 3 unanswered points to leave only a point between the sides. They had more chances but were unable to score. Railyard put in a strong finish and won on a score line of Railyard 2-05 St. Martins 0-05.

St. Martins have to do it all again next Sunday
This game was a tough battle from the beginning. Martins playing against the wind opened the scoring with points by Dermot Lawlor (f) and Mick Morrissey. St. Mary’s replied with 2 points from Mark O Sullivan. Martins were dominating at this stage but were finding it hard to score. Both sets of backs were working hard. 2 points by Dermot Lawlor were cancelled out with points by Damien Quaid and Keith Harnett (ST. Mary’s). Then Damien Quaid caught a good ball middle of the field and put it between the posts to put St. Mary’s ahead for the first time. St. Mary’s added 2 more before half time to leave them ahead going in. Half time: St. Martins 0-07 St. Mary’s 0-09. Martins started the second half with the aid of the strong wind and had points by Stephen Murphy (f) and Dermot Lawlor but St. Mary’s continued to work hard and had points from Shane Hourigan (2) to lead by 3 with 18mins gone. St. Mary’s conceded 2 frees which were duly converted by martins to leave the margin down to a point. Then Brian Malone got the equaliser with 6 mins remaining. Then David Shore caught a good ball from the puck out and was fouled by Mark O Sullivan (St. Mary’s). Free put over the bar by Dermot Lawlor. Martins ahead with time just up but then they gave a free away and Shane Hourigan punished them by putting the ball over the crossbar. Martins had a chance to win when they were awarded a free on St. Mary’s 65 but unfortunally it veered to the right of the posts and wide. Following the puck out referee Willie Barrett blew the final whistle. All to play for the next day.

All roads will lead to Limerick next sunday 14th March where the Junior Bs will play St. Marys Rathkeale in the Junior B All-Ireland Final. This is a proud day for the club and we would encourage people to travel and support the team. There will be buses going from the club.
