New date for Family Race Day

Kilkenny Senior Hurlers Family Race Day has now been rescheduled for Tuesday 9th of April with the first race at 4.45pm.

This is a National Hunt fixture and there are 7 races on the card.  The races are called after six of the Kilkenny Senior Hurlers and team manager Brian Cody.

Special guest will be Luke Mitchell who plays Romeo Smith in the Aussie drama Home & Away.  He will assist Deirdre Shefflin and Elaine Hickey in the judging of the Most Appropriately Dressed Lady.

There are competitions for the best dressed ‘black & amber’ family and the best dressed student and we have excellent prizes for all the winners.

A draw will take place for two tickets for the Bruce Springsteen Concert in Nowlan Park in July.  Application forms are included in the souvenir race card.

There will be live music by ‘The Waxies’ in the Miller Marquee and also an appearance by Irish comedian Paddy Courtney from 5pm to 8pm.  A designated kid’s play area is being provided.  All the Kilkenny senior hurlers and the Liam McCarthy will be in attendance for autographs and photographs.

Being in the winner’s enclosure in Gowran Park on Tuesday the 9th April will have a whole new meaning for us all as we joint the All-Ireland Champions of 2012 in an evening at the races in Gowran Park. It is an opportunity to pay tribute to this very special group of players for all the great entertainment they have given to us in the last number of years.

Kilkenny County Board and the Race Day committee would greatly appreciate if you could pass on this information to all of your members. Please note that the players fund will only benefit if you purchase tickets in advance.
