Junior A’s outclassed

St. Martin’s Junior A’s took on Lisdowney this evening in Muckalee in the first round of the North Junior A Championship.  Lisdowney seemed to settle first as they took their chances and had notched up 5 points before St. Martin’s got their first score, when John Haughney was fouled and Shane Kinsella duly pointed the free.  However, things did not improve for St. Martin’s as that was their only score of the half and Lisdowney eased ahead to work up a considerable lead.  The half time score was not pretty reading as it read St. Martin’s 0-1 to Lisdowney’s 1-15.  In the second half, St. Martin’s improved somewhat and within 6 minutes, Jason Shore blasted a free to the net to get the sides first goal.  The team worked hard adding a further 7 points courtesy of Luke Maher, Damien Tynan, Shane Kinsella and Paddy Dowling while Damien Tynan added another goal to his tally from 15 metres out.  However, Lisdowney were too strong as they were keeping their tally running up and been first to the ball helped them to run out winners on a scoreline of 3-21 to St. Martin’s 2-8.
