J. J Kavanagh & Sons Junior Hurling Championship
St. Martin’s Junior team took on Black’s & Whites in a sunny Clara pitch. Both sides found it hard to gain scores in the early stages as Paul Maher and Shane Kinsella traded points with Thomas Joyce and Emmett Foley. However, mid way through the second half, the skeoghvosteen side roared into action scoring from every angle. Just before half time, a well taken free from Shane Kinsella over on the far sideline dropped over the netminder’s head into the back of the net to leave two points between the sides at the interval. Within five minutes of the restart, Martin’s had taken the lead by one point for what was to be the first and last time in the game. Their opponents sprung back into life with a flurry of points to pull away once again. From there on, St. Martin’s tried hard to gain scores but found the going tough. Points from Luke Maher and Shane Kinsella were not enough in the end as Blacks & Whites won on a scoreline of 1-19 to 1-9.
