U14 reach semi-final of country cup


The under 14 played Glenmore in the quarter final of the country cup on Sunday. Conditions were terrible and it was hard to control the ball. The lads showed great heart and worked hard and eventually won by a single point.  Final score St.Martins 1-7 Glenmore 1-6.

Martins Advance


St.Martins advanced to the semi-final of the U21 A Northern Championship after a hard fought win over St.Patricks Ballyragget.Played in Ballyhemmon on a cold but dry day this was never going to be a classic but the only goal of the game was,Patrick Nolan won a ball  in his own square and gave a great pass to John Mulhall who made some ground and passed to Ciaran Brennan on the wing  Ciaran made some hard yards and passed to Canice Maher in the corner Canice headed for goal and laid off a pass to thomas Breen who finished to the net in the first minute.The half time score was 1-2 to 0-5 full time 1-7 to 0-9.Great credit to both teams and officials for their displays.

Time change for u21 match


The u21 match against Ballyraggett on Sunday in Castlecomer will now be played at 12 o’clock instead of 1 o’clock as advertised.

St. Martins Hurling Club AGM will take place on Friday 11th December in Muckalee Community Centre at 8 o’ clock.

Bord na Nog AGM date change


Bord Na Nog AGM will not take place on November 20th as advertised but has been rearranged for Friday December 4th at 8 o’ clock in Muckalee Community Centre.

U21 Pass first test


St.Martins  passed their first test of the A  Championship when the beat neighbours Erins Own Castlecomer.Played in high wind and heavy rain Martins led at half 1-4 to 0-2,a late goal from Erins Own closed the gap to the minimum ,but Martins advanced to set up a meeting against St. Patricks Ballyragget.Final score 1-7 to 2-3.

Fr. Delaney Tournament


The U10 team played Conahy in the final of the Fr. Delaney tournament in Muckalee on Monday .  They were that bit stronger and won the game .  It was a good end to the year for them.  Many thanks to Fr. Delaney for presenting the medals and to the ladies who provided refreshments.

The AGM of the Bord Na Nog will take place on Friday 20th of November in Muckalee Community Centre at 8 pm.  All are welcome.

Minors loose out to Lisdowney

The minors bowed out of the Championship this afternoon.  They started well and opened the scoring  with a free by Canice maher.  This was followed by 3 more also by Canice before Lisdowney got their first a point from a free.  They followed this by another point and then they got 2 quick goals to leave them ahead by 2 points.  But Martins regrouped and got back to go in level at half time.  St. Martins 0-10 Lisdowney 2-04.  After the restart their was exchanges of points before Martins were down to 14 men with the  sending off of Luke Maher.  The lads worked hard and after 18 mins they were ahead by 2 points but this was to be their last score and Lisdowney shot over 6 unanswered points to win.  Final score St. Martins 0-15 Lisdowney 2-13.

Best of luck to John Mulhall who has been named in the shortlist for the Breaking Through Player of the Year award in U21.  Also on the list are Joe Canning (Galway)   John Conlon, Darach Honan, Colin Ryan from (clare) and Richie Hogan (Kilkenny).  The winner will receive a voucher worth €1000 and the result will be announced in the coming days.
