U14 footballers take on Castlecomer

Muckalee was the venue and Saturday evening 31st March was the date when St. Martin’s U14 Football team went head to head with Castlecomer in the Football League.

With a massively depleted squad St. Martin’s went into battle but against their neighbours and friends but Comer proved too strong for our young team. The first half was dominated by Castlecomer with some fine scores being landed on our Boys but St. Martin’s lads bounced back in a thrilling second half but it was too little too late. Comer ran out easy winners in the end.

Martins Hold Firm To Win , St Martins opened there U16 hurling league campaign against a very determined Mullinavat, Martins opened with a couple of early points only to be hit with an unstoppable goal after 10 minutes , Mullinavat tacked on a few more points to put it up to St Martins, Our lads rallied well in second quarter and scored a goal after some good team work, a couple of pointed frees left us 1-8 to 1-6 ahead at break , the second half saw martins increase the lead but Mullinavat put in a huge last 15 minutes to score two goals and just leave 2 points in it deep in injury time when Mullinavat were awarded a 21 metre free in front of goal, Credit to our defence the held firm to clear there lines and won on a score of 2-14 to 3-9 .
