U12 play O’Loughlins in Go Games
On a fine evening in Muckalee on 13th August St Martins red ream played O’Loughlins in the next round of the go games. O’loughlins got off to a flying start and caught St Martins cold. a goal and 3 points by their full forward had Martins reeling. Slowly St martins got back into the game and won a free close to the goal which was saved at the first attempt but the rebound was finished to the net by Justin Manning. Some fine points cut the deficit coming up to the break. But the young saints suffered a another major set back just before half time when a high ball lobbed in ended up in the net. Again O’loughlins started the second half brightly and got in for another goal. But that score sparked St Martins into life and they stormed into the game after this with goals from Tommy Butler and Donal Coughlan and fine points from Harry Kealy, Shane Fahey,Conor Mulhall, James Carrigan and Tommy Lawlor. A late free gave up a minor score to O’loughlins.

U12 Go games begin.
At a well appointed Muckalee pitch St Martins U12s Dearg Team played their first go game on Thursday evening 25th July last against Barrow Rangers. The large attendance of family and friends were treated to an entertaining game. The first half was even enough and some good saves from Joe Reid and clearances from his defence in from of him Shane O’Neill Mathew Shortall and Tommy Butler kept Barrow Rangers at bay. Eventually St Martins midfield powered into the game and took control. With the constant supply of ball into the forwards the scores started to come. With goals from Shane Fahey, James Carrigan, Thomas Lawlor and Justin Manning. Points added from Conor Mulhll, Harry Kealy and Donal Coughlan, St Martins were well in control. The young saints hadn’t it all their own way at the start of the second half and Barrow Rangers piled on the pressure but good play from Justin Manning and Darragh Coughlan kept ball repelled and second half goalie Andrew Buggy made two good saves. Then a great run by Donal Coughlan ended up in a goal for St Martins. From the puck out a good move was finished to the net by Harry Kealy and from here on St Martins scored some fine points and finished the game well. The team play, skill, work rate, covering back and score taking was exceptional from these young hurlers.
Thank you to Robert Reid for refereeing the game. And the parents who helped in setting up the pitch and clear up after the game.

St. Martins minors meet Lisdowney.
St Martins travelled to Lisdowney on Monday evening where they took on the favourites for the Roinn B Championship
A number of missed chances in the first half proved costly and they trailed at the break 0-8 to 0-2.
The second half proved to be a much more exciting match with both sides having periods of dominance. St Martins twice pulled the game back to two points but just couldn’t pull level and eventually ran out of steam. A late Lisdowney goal as Martins chased the game wasn’t a fair reflection on the evenings fare. St Martins now play Kilmacow next Monday at 7.30pm in the first round of the championship.
