Byrne Cup Rd. 4 vs Young Ireland’s

St. Martin’s took on Young Ireland’s this evening in the fourth round of the Byrne Cup.  Played in Gowran in front of a small crowd, it was the homeside that settled first with two good points.  However, St. Martin’s kicked into life when John Mulhall found the net in the 7th minute and Adrian Farrell shot over the bar put their side up after the first quarter.  With some more lovely play from John Mulhall, once again finding the back of the net, Paddy Nolan and Luke Maher, St. Martin’s found themselves two up at half time.  (St. Martin’s 2-4, Young Ireland’s 0-8).  Following on from that, Martin’s hammered home a further 3 goals from the sticks of John Mulhall, Eoin McGrath and Adrian Farrell while Robert Shore, Brian Cadigan and Paul Maher also got in on the scoring act with well taken points. Young Ireland’s were unlucky with a few missed chances at goal but the Martin’s defence did great keeping them out. Final Score: St. Martin’s 5-10 Young Ireland’s 0-17.
