U14s V James Stephen’s in League Battle

Following some rather strange decisions of late St. Martin’s U14 squad found themselves having to travel to Palmerstown to play James Stephens in a qualifying game to decide the semifinalists. St. Martin’s got a dream start scoring 3 early goals and controlling most areas of the field but only led by 3 pints and halftime. The second half continued in a strong battle with both sides not backing off but St. Martin’s found it more difficult  to find  scores. The game ended with James Stephens winning with a final score of 3-10 to 3-4.

‘Such a Local Row’

Journeyman Theatre Company presents: ‘Such A Local Row’ ‘A must-see for all hurling fans’ Local Dicksboro clubman, Niall Morrissey, stars in a new GAA play in the Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny in mid-July. Niall is a founding member of Journeyman Productions, the company producing the play, and the company is no stranger to Kilkenny having performed the play to a packed house in the Set Theatre, Langton’s Hotel in April in aid of The Chernobyl Children’s Project. Now, the show returns to the Watergate Theatre for two nights only, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd of July. ‘Such a Local Row’ is written and directed by Jody Quirke, a founding member of Journeyman Theatre Company, and member of Blarney GAA, Cork. ‘Such a Local Row’was performed first in the Granary Theatre, Cork in February this year and won the Best Original Writing Award at the Irish Student Drama Festival in Galway in March. The play is a ‘coming of age’ story of four boys growing up in a rural parish in Ireland. Their cocooned world revolves around the small local GAA club and their intense rivalry with the bigger club from the neighbouring ‘town’. The second act takes place a decade later with the boys in their early twenties. Their fortunes have changed as well as their perspectives.  Life is suddenly far more complicated and their childhood bonds of friendship and loyalty are sorely tested. Such a Local Row takes place at the Watergate Theatre from the 22nd to the 23rd of July at 8pm nightly. Tickets: €15/10 Booking Number: 056 7761674
