U14 reach Shield semi-final

The u 14 played Emeralds in the quarter final on friday evening.  From the start Martins were on top and never looked in any danger of loosing.  Leading at half time by 2-05 to 0-03.  In the second half they used all their subs and ended with a final score of 4-12 to 0-04.  Emeralds are a very young team with some nice hurlers.

Rangers rule


St Martins lost out to Barrow Rangers in the All County Junior Hurling League game played in Paulstown.Martins started slowly and were five points down after as many minutes,and went on to trail at half time 2-13 t0 1-6.The second half followed a similar pattern , the final score was 2-22 to2-12.

Junior Win

St.Martins played neighbours Cloneen in the Junior League and recorded a win ,played in Muckalee it was the home side who started well and continued to dominate throughout .The half time score was 2-13 to 0-2, full time 6-17 to 0-8,it was a busy day for many of our Juniors who only hours earlier had played in the Senior League.

Second defeat


St Martins suffered their second defeat of the Senior League Championship, they lost to near neighbours O Loughlins Gaels .The game was played in Erins Own pitch in Castlecomer.O Loughlin Gaels dominated the game throughout and led at the break 0-13 to 0-6. The Final score was 0-22 to 1-9.

Juniors win


St.Martins Junior A team bounced back in style after last weeks loss to defeat James Stephens in Larchfield.Martins put in a great performance in the first half and led at the break 1-13 to 0-3. On the resumption James Stephens came more into the game an cut the lead to six points with minutes remaining,but Martins won  on the score 1-20 to2-11.Three Davids played in attack for Martins tonight a first?.

U8 Go Games


Our U8 hurling team competed in the Kilkenny Go Games blitz last Saturday in O’Loughlins. On an extremly hot day they were in a tough group and had three games against Disksboro, James Stephens and Tullaroan, they won one and were narrowly beaten in the other two games. Another win for U14

The U14 travelled to Johnstown on Monday and came away with the points.  Martins started slowly and Johnstown opened the scoring with 2 points but thenMartins setteled  and got some fine scores to leave it St. Martins 2-04 Johnstown 0-03 at half time.  Playing with a slight breeze in the second half Martins continued to dominate. Final score St. Martins 2-09 Johnstown 0-05.

St.Martins made the long trip to Kilmacow and came away with a two point defeat.On a lovely evening for Hurling this game was well contested all through with the home side in the lead at the break 0-10 to 0-8.Martins came back  and took the lead,but a well struck shot from a breaking ball gave Kilmacow a lead the never lost Result1-17 to 0-17

Mixed fortune for U14

The U14 played two games this week. On Monday they played Cloneen and had a good win. They proved that bit strong for Cloneen and led throughout the game.  Then on Thursday they had conahy at home.  This game was more even and even though they started slowly and were down at half time 0-02 to 1-07 the second half was different, they up their game and and scored 2-04 but it just wasn’t enough.  Final score St. Martins 2-06 Conahy 1-15.

Junior A first loss


St. martins suffered their first loss of the Junior A campaign when going under to a strong Fenians side.Played at home in Muckalee Martins made a good start and led after the first quarter,but it was the visitors who led at halftime 2-9 to 1-6.Fenians dominated the second half against a hard trying Martins to run out convincing winners,3-23 to 1-10.
