Good start in Junior A League
St. Martins Junior A side travelled to play Carlow Town in their own grounds in Carlow ,a good start had us two goals up in as many minutes.The score of the half a lovely strike by veteran Nicholas Purcell from the middle of the field to leave the score 2-9 to 0-4 in favour of Martins.The second half continued with Martins in control and run out winners 4-15 to 1-8.Three of our younger players made their debut at this level, Jamie Heffernan , Eoin O Mahony and Patrick Meany did well when introduced.

La na gClub
Our La Na gClub was held in Muckalee last Sunday where kids from under 6 upwards played mini hurling and football matches. After the games they all enjoyed some much needed refreshments. Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day and to some of our senior hurlers who turned up to give advice and display the skills. A great day was had by all. Below are photo’s of the U6 and U8 players who participated.
Martins Juniors by a point
In the a County Junior League St Martins Juniors and Dicksboro played a high scoring game in Palmerstown.On a lovely evening for hurling five goals were scored in the first half with Martins leading at the break 3-5 to2-3.Dicksboro had use of the fresh breeze but the setting sun which had caused the Martins defence problems in the opening half now gone it was the visitors who dominated and led by six points entering the last five minutes. Dicksboro finished on top and a chance for victory in injury time but Martins held on for a one point win.Final score 4-10 to 4-9.

Second round defeat
St.Martins lost out to Dunnamaggin inthe second round of the Senior Hurling League played at Nowlan.Martins showed their best form early in the game and dominated for the first twenty minutes . A goal at this stage brought the Dunnamaggin right back in to the game and at half time the sides were level 0-10 to 1-7.The scoring in the second half never matched that of the first with Martins adding four points to Dunnamaggin five .Final score 0-14 to 1-12.

Great victory for U10’s
The under 10 squad played two competitive matches against Cloneen last Tuesday evening. It was a very much improved display from all the players after a nervous start to the year against Conahy the previous week. All the work in training is paying off and everybody is definitley improving at the basic skills of lifting soloing and striking. Plenty of goals and points were scored and the lads were delighted to come away with the two victories. U6 and U8 Hurling Training
The St. Martins Saturday morning crew continue to train (and have fun) every Saturday morning from 10am to 11am. Below is a group photo of the U6’s and U8’s last week. There will be no training this Saturday morning May 8th. as our Lá na Club day is on this Sunday May 9th. where the U6’s and U8’s will be playing a match in Muckalee. All are welcome to come and join in this fun day for all the family. Keep an eye out here on the website for Kids player of week etc. from next week onwards.
Martins beat neighbours
Saint Martins and our neighbours Naomh Brid of Carlow clashed in the All County Junior Hurling League.Played in Muckalee the first half had some great pasages of hurling with Martins finishing the stronger to lead at the break 1-7 to 0-4. On the resumption Martins dominated and ran out convincing winners. A feature of the game was the clash of two great veterans the game, our own Aidan Lalor and Jonny Nevin of Naomh Brid. Final score 2-19 to 1-7.

BORD NA NOG GOES BAG PACKING
The Bord Na Nog will hold its annual bag packing days on June 24th/25th in Dunnes Stores Kierans Street. This helps with the every day expenses of the club (hurls, hurling balls and equipment). Anyone interested in helping out can contact any committee member.
