Quarter final


St Martins qualified for the quarter final of the Championship and the Shield Final of the League after a hard fought victory over Graigue -Ballycallan in Palmerstown. Martins started well but it was the Ballycallan side who led at the break 1-11 to 1-9.A well taken goal by Joe Maher put a good gloss on the score board after Martins were six points down .Wind assisted Martins came back well and with John Maher very good from frees scoring seven , kept a determined Ballycallan at bay.The result was in doubt right into added time when a great save from a twenty metre free by Colin McGrath was followed by the final whistle. Full time score 1-19 to 1-17.

European racketball win


Congratulations to St.Martins hurler Mark Murphy who Captained Ireland in the European Racketball Championships held in Bad-Tolz Germany recently . Mark got to the quarter final of the singles, won a bronze medal in the doubles and a silver in the team event. Mark learned his racketball in Muckalee alley, well done.

U16 bow out


The U16 played Ballyhale in the quarter final of the championship on Monday night inSt. Kierans College.  Ballyhale proved too strong for the lads and were convincing winners in the end. Final score St. Martins 2-05 Ballyhale 5-21.

Martins fail in Final


St. Martins lost out to Carrickshock in County Junior A League Final . Martins dominated the first half and held a double score lead coming up to half time.  Carrickshock struck for a goal from a twenty metre free to bring them right back into the game. The injury to Michael Morrissey after just a few minutes was a huge blow to Martins. Half time score 0-10 to 1-5 . Two further goals from the southern side set them up from victory against a Martins side who never stopped trying but could not get through for goals. Full time score 3-10 to 0-13.

Martins advance


St Martins advanced to the Semi Final of the Northern Junior Hurling Championship after a convincing win over Saint Lactains of Freshford. Played in Jenkinstown on a lovely for the game Martins had a lead of 0-13 to 0-5. Lactains made a good start to second half and cut the lead to four points but Martins replied with goals from Luke,Dermot and John , to run out winners 3-23 to 2-11.

U14s V James Stephen’s in League Battle


Following some rather strange decisions of late St. Martin’s U14 squad found themselves having to travel to Palmerstown to play James Stephens in a qualifying game to decide the semifinalists. St. Martin’s got a dream start scoring 3 early goals and controlling most areas of the field but only led by 3 pints and halftime. The second half continued in a strong battle with both sides not backing off but St. Martin’s found it more difficult  to find  scores. The game ended with James Stephens winning with a final score of 3-10 to 3-4.

Scrap Metal Collection


St. Martin’s Hurling Club and Muckalee Football club are holding a scrap Metal Collection drive from 2nd to 13th of August to raise funds for the ongoing developments at Muckalee and Coon pitches. Good win for u16


St. Martins u16 played Barrow Rangers in the first round of the championship on Friday evening in Clara.  This was an even contest with nothing between the sides.  Martins taking their chances in the first half led at half time 0-06 to 0-04.  They continued to work hard in the second half and even thought Barrow Rangers brought the gap back to 2 points Martins put over some fine points to win.  Final Score St. Martins 0-17 to Barrow Rangers 2-06.

Semi loss


Martins lost out to neighbours O Loughlins in the Semi-Final of the Aylward Cup .Played in Muckalee the home side led by 1-8 to 1-7. at the break.The second half was just as close with O Loughlins holding out for a one point win 1-19 to 1-18.
