Racquetball Club Championships

On Saturday 12th of March Kilkenny participated in the All Ireland Racquetball Club Championships. Local man, Mark Murphy was Kilkenny’s team captain and the other members included John Comerford (O’Loughlins) and Don Lalor (Clogh).

The team did extremely well and came home with an All Ireland senior racquetball medal. They were runners up to Tourneena (Waterford), who had a team full of Open players. They were narrowly beaten by 2 points in the final round of the event.
This was the furthest Kilkenny have ever got in this event and it was truely a remarkable achievement.
The team beat Castlebar first with Mark winning his singles game and doubles game with John Comerford, however Don Lalor lost out in his singles game. John and Mark also defeated Athenry in both doubles and Mark’s singles event. In the final game Kilkenny lost out to Tourneena with Don Lalor pulling up with an injury and Mark narrowly defeated in his singles.
